Turkey surpasses the barrier of 100,000 coronavirus infections

There are already 101,790 cases of coronavirus registered in Turkey, 2,491 deaths from the virus and 18,491 patients who have overcome COVID-19 disease, according to the latest data.

Turkey crossed on Thursday the 100,000-infection barrier of the new coronavirus after registering 3,116 new positive cases in the last 24 hours, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca confirmed through his Twitter profile.

Koca explained through social media that the number of people infected with coronavirus detected to date in the Eurasian country already amounted to 101,790, while 2,491 have died from COVID-19 after another 115 patients died from the disease in the last 24 hours.

Likewise, there are already 18,491 patients with coronavirus who have been discharged from hospital after overcoming the disease, 2,014 only on Thursday, said the minister, signalling the positive evolution of the pandemic in Turkey, where not only more patients are cured but also the number of new infections is also decreasing.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 40,962 new virus detection tests were carried out, bringing the total number of tests carried out to date in Turkey to 791,906.

“Today we are better than yesterday. We have reached this point with a total of 791,906 tests, and none of them has been done randomly,” insisted the minister, who added that currently in Turkey there are 1,816 patients infected with coronavirus admitted to intensive care units, and 982 others remain intubated.
