Beşiktaş and Galatasaray scored a total of 9 goals on the last day of the year, while Başakşehir scored 5 goals to Kasımpaşa, and the bottom team took 6 in its visit to Trabzon.
The 17th day of the Turkish league, last before the winter break, had a farewell of the year 2019 that ends spectacularly, with a rain of goals in which 4 of the 9 games played over the weekend recorded victories by a wide margin, including the matches played by Beşiktaş and Galatasaray.
On Friday, in the first game of the last day of the year, Beşiktaş endorsed to the Ankara’s Gençlerbirliği in Istanbul a 4-1 in the match played at Vodafone Arena; although the team of the capital was the first to score after 23 minutes of play despite having an expelled (Nadir for protesting the referee), his joy was short-lived: 13 minutes later Pehlivan also saw the red for an ugly entry, and Gençlerbirliği stayed with 9.
Otherwise, perhaps the match could have taken another course; but the Black Eagles were able to take advantage of their numerical superiority and, already in the second part, they scored four goals by Domagoj Vida, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, Oğuzhan Özyakup and, at the time of discount, Atiba Hutchinson scored his fourth goal of the season topping a corner to sentence the match.
For its part, the current Super League champion, Galatasaray, received on Saturday at home the modest Antalyaspor, in positions of direct descent, which he won mercilessly with a 5-0, including two Falcao goals in just 30 minutes and an own goal by the Czech Ondrej Celustka; in the second part the difference would be extended with two other goals by Ryan Babel and Taylan Antalyalı during the final minutes of the match.
Başakşehir and Trabzonspor also participated in the festival goals
Another team from Istanbul, the Başakşehir, also participated in the rain of goals that the Super Lig experienced this day with 5 goals to the Kasımpaşa, including two from Demba Ba – the first just after 2 minutes of play – and one in own door by the Portuguese player of Antalyaspor Jorge Fernandes. The victory could be even more forceful if the referee, assisted by the VAR, had not cancelled a goal due to offside.
Another scoring six goals was Trabzonspor; the Black Sea Storm defeated the bottom team, the Kayserispor, by 6-2, and curiously the Norwegian forward of the Trabzon, Alexander Sörloth, was responsible for the first goal – which came in the 7th minute of the game – and the last, already in the final seconds of the game.
Paradoxically, with these results the Turkish league says goodbye to the year with virtually no changes in the classification, except for the exchange of positions in the middle of the table between Göztepe and Gaziantep: the rest of the teams remain as they were, including the leader, Sivasspor, who won by the minimum in its stadium with a lonely goal from Mustapha Yatabare.
