Galatasaray, league match

Beşiktaş and Galatasaray, defeated in the Turkish post-coronavirus league

Turkish league resumed on June 12 the remaining 8 games, but with matches without spectators and new measures for the coronavirus. Only Fenerbahçe managed to win on first post-COVID19 game.

Beşiktaş and Galatasaray fell in their respective matches in the resumption of the Turkish post-coronavirus league after almost three months of hiatus in the maximum competition of Turkish football, in which the remaining 8 games of the season must be played under new security measures and without spectators.

Galatasaray fell defeated 2-0 on their visit to Rize with separate goals shortly before and shortly after the break, work of Milan Skoda (42nd minute, by penalty) and Tunay Torun (53), in a “weird” match due to the fact that was played without an audience; the Lions, in addition to suffering a defeat, ended up with two injured -one of them their main goalkeeper, Muslera– and with one less due to the expulsion of Adem Büyük for protesting the referee.

Beşiktaş received Antalyaspor at home, and visitors took the lead on the scoreboard thanks to goals from Sinan Gümüş after 15 minutes of play and Amilton 20 minutes later with a nice cross shot in the small area. In the second half, Serbian Adem Ljajić, who had entered mid-game to replace Güven Yalçın, would score in the 68th minute, getting the only goal for the Black Eagles.

Fenerbahçe was the only one of the “big three” of the Turkish Super League who managed to win their match on this first day under new measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, in which Trabzonspor continues to lead the league with 56 points, the same as the second classified -Başakşehir- and 6 away from Galatasaray, which is third in the table.

In this postcoronavirus Turkish league the matches will be played without spectators and fans will not be able to go to the stadiums either, although if the government authorises so they could attend in mid-July. Teams can make up to 5 changes, and players and staff on the bench must be separated by two seats and wear face masks. In the event that a team has less than 14 players available due to contagion, the match will be postponed.
