A goal in injury time allowed Alanyaspor to beat Galatasaray and remain the top of the Turkish league.
Aytemiz Alanyaspor remains the leader of the Turkish league after defeating Galatasaray at home on Monday night with a goal in injury time, thus ousting Fenerbahçe, which had temporarily climbed to the top position after beating the Göztepe in İzmir.
The Colombian star of Galatasaray Radamel Falcao would be the author of the first goal of the match played at the Türk Telekom stadium in Istanbul, empty of public due to the coronavirus pandemic; the referee signalled a penalty per hand in the area that Falcao converted without problems establishing the 1-0 on the scoreboard, when the 34th minute of the game was running.
However, just 9 minutes later, Senegalese striker Khouma Babacar scored an impressive goal by kicking off a free-kick not far from the penalty spot that caught Lions goalkeeper Fatih Öztürk completely off guard, tying the game at just two minutes to rest.
Before going ending the 1st 45 minutes, the locals would suffer a strong blow that would ultimately be crucial for the result of the match, when in the 45th minute the Nigerian midfielder from Galatasaray Oghenekaro Etebo saw the second yellow for an ugly tackle on Uçan, leaving the team led by Fatih Terim with only 10 players on the pitch.
A goal in the injury time sentenced Galatasaray
Despite everything, Galatasaray kept trying to beat Alanyaspor during the second half of the game, and apparently it seemed to succeed in the 70th minute when Younes Belhanda finished off a ball rejected in extremis by the Portuguese goalkeeper of Alanya, José Carlos Marafona, sending it to the back of the net; Belhanda celebrated it with a double somersault but the joy would not last long, because the goal was annulled by the VAR due to a hand from Ryan Babel during the scuffle in the area.
Thus, everything seemed to indicate that the match would end with distribution of points when in the 95th minute, a lucky touch from Davidson da Luz Pereira in the area after a corner kick gave Alanyaspor the victory by 1 -2 in Istanbul, thus managing to add 13 points that allow them one more week to continue as leaders of the Turkish league, while Galatasaray falls from 4th to 6th place after this defeat.
